Back in November Kauai's County approved building permits intended for a dairy farm operated by Hawai'i Dairy Farm.  The proposed number of cows to be on the farm was initially set at 2,000 head, but that number has recently reduced the proposed number to 650-699. The dairy farm continues to be an ongoing conversation for Kauai's community. The dairy farm would be the state of Hawaii's first grass-fed dairy.

The owner of an unused warehouse in Lawai has been given the 'Ok' by Kauai's planning commission to redevelop the space into a retail center. The proposed plan includes a 3,487-square-foot fitness business, 1,792-square-foot art studio, 1,141-square-foot restaurant, 590-square-foot coffee shop, 580-square-foot retail clothing store, and 46 parking stalls. Many residents are happy that the space will be used but some are concerned that traffic may become congested.

Hawaiian Airlines announced that starting in 2015 they will begin seasonal flights directly to Kauai from Los Angeles and Oakland. Flights will start on May 20 and will operate for 16-18 weeks.
