Have you been driving to or from the North Shore and been caught in traffic near the hill attaching Princeville and Hanalei? If you have driven through the construction area you have seen everything from tree trimmers felling trees to construction workers rapelling on ropes up and down the newly cleared hill. As a precaution to potential rocks that could crash down on unsuspecting motorists the Department of Transportation has cleared the hill of trees and loose rocks and is now in the process of covering the hillside in chain link fence to hold any of the hillside from coming down in the future. In the picture above you can see the part of the hill that has been cleared. Kauai roads really took a hit in March with the heavy rain and flooding, since then drivers have endured multiple one lane closures as crews work to restore and improve the culverts under the highway in addition to shoring up slide areas. This is always a good reminder of how good we have it on Kauai, the temporary inconvenience actually gives us something to complain about. As someone mentioned earlier today "Hearing someone complain about the traffic on the North Shore is like listening to a supermodel cry about a pimple" !!
Drive safe and with Aloha, lucky we live Kauai!
