Ross Dress for Less opens today on Kauai.

Ross is a chain of department stores offering off-price products.  Shoppers can find anything from clothing to housewares at Ross.

Servco Toyota, Subaru, will be moving their location to 4464 Ulu Maika St. The new facility will have a 12,000 sq ft and is scheduled to open next year.  The dealership will open under it's new name, Servco Auto Kauai.

Sunday, September 28, 2014 marked a day of tribute to soldiers, fallen warriors and their families.  The Prince Golf Course paid tribute to those who served their country by donating all proceeds from this outing.  Well done from beginning to end.

Future growth on the South Shore of Kaua'i is being discussed by a forum known collectively as the South Kaua'i Community Plan.  The Kauai Planning Department is hosting several meetings which will discuss the plan, which will implement the community’s vision and goals, which were developed through a public participation program and a citizens’ advisory committee.

South Shore Residents who wish to join the discussion can find more details online and download a .PDF version of the draft.

According to a recent article published by the Pacific Business News, Facebook CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerburg, is suggested to have bought the Kahu Aina Plantation on Kauai's North Shore for 66M.  It is speculated that he does not wish to develop the property, time will tell. This is on the cusp of the North Shore in Moloaa on the bluff above Larsen's Beach.

 The prices continue to consistently rise over the last 24 months.

Hanalei Canoe Club competed in the Na Wahine O Ke Kai race last month. Considered the "Super Bowl" of paddling, the race is the largest international canoe racing event for women.  As the sole Kaua'i team competing, Hanalei Canoe Club did an awesome job showing how our small island can compete with the bigger clubs of the other islands.  They came in 17th place out of 61 crews with a time of 6:15:01. Congratulations! 

The men will soon compete in the same race on October 12 and will be aired live on TV.  We wish best of luck to the Kaua'i teams competing.

KIUC's Sept. edition of Currents gave us some insight to the status of Kauai's renewable energy projects.  The graphic illustrates the current and future projects.

Team Reside Kauai completed it's quarterly litter pick this past weekend.  Beginning  just before Lumahai Lookout (Mile Marker 5) to just past Wainiha Beach (Mile Marker 7) along Highway 560 is our kuleana (responsibility).  Six bags of  "misplaced trash" were netted this time around.
