Being part of the community here on Garden Island is a special thing for those that are lucky enough to call Kauai home. For Chip Bahouth, the general manager of the Sheraton Kauai Resort and their employees, the presentation of more than $2,900 to the Kauai Humane Society was a generous contribution to the local community. It was also sufficient reason for a bring your dog to work day!
Penny Cistaro, KHS executive director, joined the gathering of associates and their furry companions in accepting the contribution which represented the July proceeds from Table 53 in the oceanfront RumFire Poipu Beach restaurant. Table 53 charity fundraising offers private booth seating overlooking the Sheraton Kauai Resorts’ Ocean Courtyard. The net proceeds from all food and beverage sales in September will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Associate of Hawaii.
The Kauai Humane Society was founded in 1952 to protect Kauai’s animals and to promote the human-animal bond. It depends on contributions of donors to continue to fund programs and services that are vital to the community and the island’s animals, including pet adoptions, low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, Critter Camp for keiki, the Save Our Shearwaters program, and the pet field trip program.
