This past weekend the 2013 Hawaii Sand Festival and Contest was held in Hanalei Bay. Artists brought shovels, pails, tools, molds, and sprayers to construct their sand creations. Sand was moved, sculpted and engraved to create everything from castles, smoking volcanoes to mermaids and magic dragons. There were many levels of competition from Keiki to professionals.
