The 12th Annual Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge takes place on July 27, 2019 on the beautiful island of Kauai. Competitors come from around the world to participate in this fun event. Hanalei Bay, with it's warm, gentle waters and sandy bottom, provides the perfect venue for five races for different ages and abilities - 8 & under and 12 & under fun races for the kids as well as 1,000 meter, 3000 meter and 1000 meter snorkel and fin races for all ages. Race day registration begins at 7:00am at the famous Hanalei Bay Pier. Pre-Registration details and more event information can be found at hanaleibayswimchallenge.com. The HBSC is the signature fundraising event for the Namolokama O Hanalei Canoe Club, one of the smallest of 10 canoe clubs on Kauai. Namolokama strives to teach traditional and cultural Hawaiian canoe paddling and good sportsmanship through recreational and competitive canoe racing.

Celebrate the magic of live theater, as the Hawaii Children’s Theatre’s ‘Summer Stars’ program presents their ‘Rising Stars Gala Showcase and Fundraiser’. Anaina Hou presents the screening of “TAYLOR CAMP – THE EDGE OF PARADISE”
In 1969, Howard Taylor, brother of actress Elizabeth, bails out a rag-tag band of young Mainlanders jailed for vagrancy and invites them to live on his oceanfront land. Soon, waves of hippies, surfers, and troubled Vietnam vets find their way to this clothing-optional, pot-friendly, tree house village at the end of the road on Kauai’s North Shore — the ultimate hippie fantasy: order without rules, life in a pristine forest along a tropical beach in paradise; until the locals decide it’s time for them to go.
“Released in 2010, we knew the film had a great subject, unforgettable characters and timeless ‘60s and ‘70s material; but we felt it missed some of the community’s richness and spirit, a spirit that lived on in so many of the Taylor Campers. For seven years after the completion of the original film, the campers sent us a steady stream of new material and ideas. So, we remade the movie into HD with new film clips, photos, interviews and music, adding segments dedicated to surfing, founding the food coop, the first baby born and the Resident Doctor, a Vietnam Flight Surgeon. We also added some of the darker elements of camp life, like the story of the guy who got strung out on cocaine, left Taylor Camp and took off for South America with five hundred dollars and his three-year-old daughter who was conceived during LSD trip. FREE Mini Golf admission on Kama`aina Sunday, the last Sunday of every month, for our kama`aina friends.
This is not your typical miniature golf course! The 18-hole course is set among a beautiful Hawaiian Botanical Garden, representing the different eras of our history. The course takes you on a journey through the origins of our island, the people that populated Hawaii and the plants and beautiful tropical flora that came with them. Meanwhile, water hazards, pipe shots, and many other obstacles make for a fun and challenging experience perfect for the entire family! This combination of recreation with education in a beautiful setting creates a truly unique experience enjoyed by visitors and members of our kama`aina community alike. Located on the North Shore of Kauai, just outside of Kilauea town, and our Par 47 miniature golf course is ADA accessible.

Get ready to boogie down when Kauai Voices sings the 70s! Celebrating the decade's diverse music, Kauai Voices the islands highly popular 50+member auditioned choral ensemble will present concerts in venues across the island over two weekends: June 15 and 16 in Lihue, June 22 in Kilauea and June 23 in Waimea.
In the 70s, heavy metal rock and disco were born, which along with the diverse genres of funk, Motown, jazz, smooth jazz, soft rock, R & B, soul and pop became all the rage. Karaoke got started, 8-track and cassette players fought for supremacy and portable synthesizers were common in music performances.  And in 1979, with the debut of the Sony Walkman, we could carry our music anywhere! Leonard noted. This season Kauai Voices will sing some of the 70s greatest hits in all the beloved genres of the decade. Disco comes alive with Boogie Fever, Funky Town, I Will Survive, Boogie Wonderland, You Should Be Dancing, and the legendary Village People hit Y.M.C.A.!  Audiences can take the drive down memory lane with these and many other great songs with the choice of four performances, which will be held over two weekends in June. Lihue shows will be held at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 15 at 7 PM and Sunday, June 16 at 3 PM. The following weekend, concerts will be held in Kilauea at Anaina Hou Porter Pavilion on Saturday, June 22 at 6 PM, as well as in Waimea at the historic Waimea Theatre on Sunday, June 23 at 3 PM.

Kauai Voices, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2011, produces two seasons of concerts each year. The shows feature a different theme each season with many different styles and genres of music. The group typically is accompanied by piano, an instrumental ensemble, and also highlights soloists, duets, and small vocal groups.
